Indiana bettors can already bet on their favorite college football teams for the upcoming season. In addition to futures bets, several online sportsbooks also have early lines on marquee football games.
Since Notre Dame is by far the most popular football program in the state, it’s no surprise that the team has the most lookahead game lines available on them out of all of Indiana’s schools. However, there are still a few options for NCAA football betting when it comes to Indiana’s other teams.
FanDuel has the largest selection of futures bets for Indiana’s college teams right now.
Bettors can place a wager on some of the upcoming season’s key games.
Betting on Notre Dame’s key matchups
The Fighting Irish will be shooting right out of the gates when the season starts this fall.
Their first game on Aug. 28 will be the next edition of the team’s rivalry with Navy. Notre Dame has won the last three bouts between the two teams.
With a solid recruiting class coming in for the upcoming season, Notre Dame is the heavy favorite this time around at -16.5. More betting options on the point total and moneyline will be available closer to the start of the season.
The next big available matchup for Notre Dame is their game against Wisconsin on Oct.3.
That game is the only one of the season that the Fighting Irish play against a Big Ten team.
Unlike the Navy matchup, this one is expected to be more of a toss-up. Right now, Notre Dame is the slight favorite at -1. That could easily change as both teams get their seasons underway and play their first handful of games.
The third big game on the board for bettors right now is Notre Dame versus Clemson on Nov. 7.
The Tigers are usually one of the marquee programs in the country. That gives Notre Dame fans a nice chance to see how the team stacks up against the best competition. Clemson is projected to be one of the best college football teams yet again, so they’re the -7 favorite right now for the Notre Dame matchup.
Those three games are the highlights for Notre Dame futures betting right now, but they’re not the only options. Other matchups against schools like Stanford, USC, and Louisville are also available.
IU and Purdue fans have fewer betting options
Since IU and Purdue typically struggle with their football programs, there are not as many futures options available for them right now. Both are schools are definitely basketball-focused.
So far, FanDuel only has one football game on the board for both teams.
IU had a strong showing last season. The Hoosiers won eight games for the first time since 1987 and managed to crack the AP Top 25 poll for the first time since 1994. IU’s first chance to build upon last year’s success will be their season opener against Wisconsin on Sept. 4.
Although last season was a successful one, it’s definitely being seen as an outlier. IU isn’t expected to really compete with that upper tier of teams this time around, so Wisconsin is the heavy -14 favorite for the matchup.
Purdue found itself in the opposite situation last season. The Boilermakers only won four games, and are looking to turn things around in 2020. Right now, the only future Purdue game you can bet on is the team’s upcoming bout with Minnesota. The Golden Gophers are expected to win by a wide margin. Minnesota is the -13 favorite for the game.
Unfortunately, you can’t bet on the Old Oaken Bucket game quite yet. That will be the final game of the regular season for both IU and Purdue on Nov. 28.
Betting on the 2021 College Football Championship
Indiana’s sportsbooks vary a bit in their odds for in-state teams to become the eventual champions.
It comes as no surprise, but Notre Dame has the best outlook of the bunch. Here’s how their odds to come out on top are looking at Indiana’s sportsbooks:
- FanDuel: +2,000
- DraftKings: +2,000
- BetRivers: +2,000
- BetMGM: +2,000
- PointsBet: + 2,500
- BetAmerica: +2,200
Indiana’s other teams are a bit more of a long shot, to say the least. Here are the odds you can grab if you’re optimistic about IU or Purdue’s seasons.
- FanDuel: IU and Purdue +25,000
- DraftKings: IU and Purdue +25,000
- BetRivers: IU and Purdue +25,000
- BetMGM: IU and Purdue +25,000
- PointsBet: IU +25,000, Purdue +30,000
- BetAmerica: IU +30,000, Purdue +25,000
Although it’s practically a lock to be the least popular out of all of these bets, for the sake of comparison, here’s a look at Ball State’s odds.
- FanDuel: +500,000
- BetRivers: + 500,000
- BetMGM: +500,000
- PointsBet: + 100,000
- BetAmerica: +100,000
Those odds are so insane because the Cardinals probably wouldn’t make the college football playoffs even if they had an undefeated season. Ball State plays in the MAC conference, so the team doesn’t really have an opportunity to play a tough enough schedule.
