For sportsbook operators, like most other businesses, this is a precarious time. A new BetMGM quiz game aims to keep customers engaged through the pandemic, however.
BetMGM is offering to reward Hoosiers’ sports knowledge with cash. While it represents a cost for the brand now, it could translate into savings down the road.
BetMGM quiz game features 10 questions a day
Perhaps the best part of this new game is that it’s free to play. You don’t have to wager any of your government stimulus payment in order to get in on the action.
Once you’ve registered for or logged into your BetMGM account, simply follow the prompts on the app or website for the trivia quiz. The game includes 10 new questions every day at 9 a.m. E.T. and the questions remain available until 11:59 p.m. E.T. that same day.
Be ready when you start playing, however, because you only have 10 seconds to answer each question. You will progress as long as you answer the questions correctly. If you get one wrong, you’re done for the day.
BetMGM will give you a point for each correct answer. Those points will accumulate over the course of a Monday through Sunday week. Your points rank you on a national leaderboard.
There are a $500 daily prize and weekly prizes as well. The prize for being at the top of the leaderboard each week is $1,000. Additionally, the top five places on the weekly leaderboards all receive bonuses prizes.
Contestants who tie for places on the daily and weekly leaderboards will split the value of the prizes among themselves. Examples of questions so far have been where NBA stars played their college basketball and queries about MLB home runs.
There’s no time like the present to get in on this game because you’re playing against more than just other Indianans. BetMGM customers in New Jersey and West Virginia will be in on the game as well.
People in all of those states may be wondering why BetMGM is essentially giving away free money. It’s a simple matter of keeping customers engaged amidst the lack of the normal sports betting options right now.
Brand awareness the goal for BetMGM
One of the biggest costs for sportsbook operators is customer acquisition and retention. This quiz game is just another strategy to retain customers and draw new accounts to the Indiana online betting app.
Because the NBA season is suspended and MLB has postponed its season, BetMGM has to get creative. Hence coming up with this trivia game to keep customers interacting with the brand.
It’s actually much cheaper to keep a customer buying the product than to re-acquire that same customer or a new one later. You could look at this quiz game as a fancy commercial designed to keep the brand at the forefront of your mind.
At the same time, the fact that it’s a free game can provide a little bit of fun and a welcome diversion from the stress of the current pandemic. If you can win bragging rights and a few bucks on top of that, all the better.
