The NFL Draft is right around the corner. Football fans have something to look forward to since Indiana allows betting on the event.
The Indiana online sportsbook apps are gearing up for the draft by introducing all sorts of new prop bets.
BetRivers is stepping out in front of the pack with its “Prop Bet Party.”
The sportsbook has plenty of NFL Draft props available. Those bets focus on everything from the number of Big Ten players drafted to position-specific bets.
Betting on the top NFL Draft picks and the Big Ten
Joe Burrow to the Cincinnati Bengals with the first overall pick is pretty much considered to be a lock. BetRivers has Burrow as the -10,000 favorite to grab the top spot.
Odds for the second overall pick aren’t quite as insane, but there’s still an overwhelming favorite. Chase Young is sitting at -2,000 to become the newest Washington Redskin.
However, you can also place a wager on the exact outcome of the top three picks, which is much less of a sure thing.
Here’s a look at the odds for the different orders of those top picks.
- Burrow, Young, Okudah:+120
- Burrow, Young, Tagovailoa:+325
- Burrow, Young, Herbert:+600
- Burrow, Tagovailoa, Young: +700
- Burrow, Young, Simmons:+800
- Burrow, Tagovailoa, Herbert:+2,000
- Burrow, Young, Simmons:+ 3,000
Bettors can also take the over/under on how many players from the Big Ten will be selected in the first round. Right now, BetRivers has that total set at 5.5.
Position-specific and head to head NFL Draft bets
The draft has a huge number of possible outcomes, and BetRivers has odds on plenty of them. For example, you can place a bet on the first player from various positions that will get drafted.
That type of position betting is available for running backs, wide receivers, offensive and defensive lineman, and tight ends.
Since the Colts may end up grabbing a receiver with their first pick, here’s a look at the odds for the first player to be taken at the position.
- Jerry Jeudy: +125
- CeeDee Lamb: +175
- Henry Ruggs III: +225
- Justin Jefferson: +10,000
- Denzel Mims: +10,000
- Tee Higgins: +15,000
- Jalen Reagor: +15,000
Over/under betting is also available for specific positions. Gamblers can place a bet on the total number of receivers scooped up in the first round. Right now, that total is set at 5.5.
BetRivers is also featuring head-to-head bets for when specific players will get drafted.
Will Jalen Hurts be drafted before Jake Fromm? Will Tristan Wirfs be selected before Jedrick Wills? Those are just a handful of the options that the sportsbook has.
2020 NFL Draft is the first for Indiana
Indiana didn’t have sports betting available for last year’s NFL Draft.
This year’s event couldn’t be coming at a better time for gamblers. Since COVID-19 has shut down most of the country’s sports, the event could act as a lifeline for sports fans looking for something to bet on.
The unpredictable nature of the NFL Draft helps make it a particularly interesting betting event.
COO of Rush Street Interactive Mattias Stetz definitely sees that unpredictability as an asset for prop betting.
“The prop bets make every draft pick significant. Selections are rarely cut and dry for an entire draft round. Last minute pick trades make later selections more unpredictable. You never know what’s going to happen and that’s what makes it so exciting!”
Since BetRivers and the rest of Indiana’s sportsbooks are pumping out so many betting options for the draft, there’s likely something out there for every football fan, regardless of their tastes.
