DraftKings Or FanDuel? Which Indiana Online Sportsbook Is Superior?

Posted on November 12, 2019 - Last Updated on December 10, 2019

Last month both DraftKings and FanDuel launched their Indiana legal online sportsbooks. In many ways, the two competitors are very similar, but there are a few differences highlighted in this Indiana mobile sportsbook review that point to one being a better product.

Both are vastly superior to illegal, offshore sportsbooks but the crux of the matter is splitting the hairs between the two. Like most tight competitions, it comes down to the details.

Indiana mobile sportsbook review: where they’re similar

These two operators are more alike than they are different. Just over two years ago, they actually tried to merge and become one company.

The regulatory hurdles were too costly, however. That’s why they remain competing firms in many states like Indiana today.

As far as experience goes, both have been in the sportsbook business for essentially the same amount of time. FanDuel does have three more years in the daily fantasy sports industry, however.

The number of sports available for wagering on both sites is pretty similar. Both books offer an array of types of bets like single-event, in-game, propositions, parlays and futures.

That can vary a little based on specific events. For instance, DraftKings currently has win totals posted for Indiana men’s college basketball teams like Indiana University whereas FanDuel only has conference and NCAA championship futures.

FanDuel has beat DraftKings to the punch on other things, however, like their recent “sports equinox.” The competition ensures both companies not only offer similar bets but similar odds, as well.

Both books are highly accessible. Both companies offer Indianans Android and iOS apps along with desktop and mobile websites.

DraftKings and FanDuel both offer a wide variety of options for deposits and withdrawals too. It’s in their best interests to do so, as that enhances the chances of customers placing bets.

There aren’t significant differences in the number of promotions the sportsbooks offer on a regular basis or customer rewards, either. Some bettors may be loyal to one brand or the other for individual reasons, but there are some key differences that make one of the two stand out.

Why DraftKings edges out FanDuel in this race

Despite the fact that FanDuel may have more marketing capital behind it because of the recent Flutter acquisition of the Stars Group, DraftKings is a better product for the Hoosier State right now. That comes down to DraftKings’ innovation, platform and resources.

A seemingly minor but important detail that many might miss is the display of responsible gaming information on the betting platforms. DraftKings displays the seal much more prominently than FanDuel does, which could lead to more people who have gambling issues getting the assistance they need.

Another reason to choose DraftKings is its commitment to the advancement of the industry. The DraftKings Drive program is an example of the company’s understanding that as technology advances, so do DraftKings’ opportunities to grow.

Finally, DraftKings is fearless in the betting market. That’s evidenced by their accepting of a $3.5 million bet on the Astros to win the World Series. They even had to get special permission from the state of New Jersey to take the bet.

DraftKings takes more care to make problem gamblers aware of available resources, uses its own resources to help the industry grow and isn’t afraid to take risks. For those reasons, it has the edge over FanDuel for the time being in Indiana.
