Hard Rock Sportsbook is on its way to Indiana.
The Indiana Gaming Commission just gave the app its temporary vendor license. That’s the first big step towards launching an online sportsbook in the Hoosier State.
The company also received its initial license to open a retail sportsbook at Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana.

Indiana sports betting has been ramping up its number of options in recent years. A handful of online sportsbooks opened for business in 2021.
If you’re new to the Hard Rock brand, then it might be time to start getting familiar. Hard Rock could be one of the first companies to kick off 2022’s new batch of online apps.
There are currently 13 legal online sportsbooks in Indiana, but a few companies are already in the pipeline to make their debuts in the state. The following betting apps plan to open for business this year:

- SBK Sportsbook
- MaximBet
- SI Sportsbook
- fubo Sportsbook
- betprophet
- PlayUp
Hard Rock Sportsbook is already up and running in New Jersey and Iowa, so Indiana could become the company’s third market.
Online sportsbooks have to partner up with a retail casino before they can launch in Indiana.
No surprise here, but Hard Rock Sportsbook will be working with Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana. The property also plans to open an in-person Hard Rock Sportsbook in the near future.
Gary casino sportsboook
Hard Rock Casino opened for business in May 2021. After a bit of a wait, the building is finally ready to add its retail sportsbook.
Hard Rock received its temporary license for in-person wagering at the same time as its online sportsbook authorization.
In other words, visitors at the Gary casino will be able to place their bets at the Hard Rock sportsbook before long.
The casino already has the space set aside for the retail sportsbook, it’s just a matter of staffing up the area and jumping through those final few hurdles from regulators.
Since Hard Rock Northern Indiana is the newest casino in the state, the absence of a betting area has put it a step behind its competitors.
Once things are up and running at the retail book, Hard Rock will have another tool in its arsenal for competing with other casinos near Chicago.
Hard Rock wants its own piece of the Indiana sports betting pie. With the launch of its online and retail sportsbooks, the company will be entering the mix sooner rather than later.
