Casino goers near the state’s capital might notice a few changes on their next gambling trip. Indiana Grand Casino just changed its name to Horseshoe Indianapolis Racing and Casino.
Caesars has two Horseshoe Casinos in the state now that the name change is in the books. Horseshoe Hammond, which is near Chicago, is now sister casinos with Horseshoe Indy.
The name change was the cherry on top of a $32 million expansion at the property.
Horseshoe Indianapolis renovation
Horseshoe Indianapolis is one of the most popular casino options in the entire state.
The property brought in over $24 million of adjusted gross revenue during just the month of January. That made it the third-most successful Indiana casino last month, but those numbers might be on the rise now that the expansion is finally complete.
Caesars broke ground on the renovations last March, so the entire process took about 11 months.
Those expansions gave Horseshoe Indy an extra 25,000 square feet to work with. That space was divvied up for 100 new slot machines and 25 new table games.
However, the biggest win for the casino is its new World Series of Poker Room. The casino can now host tournaments for the World Series, plus some qualifying events for gamblers.
The renovations also added 100 new jobs at the casino.
Horse racing expansion
Horseshoe Indianapolis might be done with its first expansion, but the second batch of improvements at the property are still underway.
Caesars is pouring an additional $7 million into a horse racing expansion at the casino.
Horseshoe Indy is one of the only two horse racing casinos in the state. Caesars owns both of them, so it’s important for the company to keep things up-to-date.
That $7 million is going towards a handful of different improvements for the racing side of the property. Focusing on the racetrack helps put horse race betting front and center.
First and foremost, the expansion is focusing on barn and dorm facilities.
Horseshoe Indy is adding 100 new stalls and 50 new dorm rooms. The improved dorm will be a two-story building that will sit nearby the new barn.
The casino is also adding winterized sliding doors on both sides of the barn, plus 10 new wash bays and 10 tack rooms.
All of that patches a lot of holes for the horse racing side of the property.
The winterizing improvements are important in a state like Indiana, and when the dust settles, there will be space for 1,200 horses at the racetrack.
All things considered, the changes are great news for gamblers in the Indianapolis area. Indiana Grand might have a new name, but the new-and-improved property should be able to offer a better experience for years to come.
