For eight NBA teams, the time has come to win or go home, as the league debuts a new Play-In Tournament before the start of the playoffs. Indiana sportsbooks might disappoint Pacers fans with their latest Indiana Pacers play-in odds.
On the bright side, if the Pacers do make it through, they’ll be part of some great betting promos for the NBA Playoffs. The deals are good enough that Indiana bettors should consider them regardless of who is playing.
Indiana Pacers Play-In journey
The NBA Play-In Tournament is a new concept for this season. It gives the teams with the seventh- through 10th-best winning percentages in each of the league’s two conferences a chance to prolong their seasons and make the playoffs.
Four of the eight teams, two in each conference, will advance to the traditional postseason.
As the No. 9 seed, the Pacers have to win two games in three days or their season will end. Indiana hosts the Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday, May 18, at 6:30 p.m. ET on TNT.
If the Pacers prevail, they’ll then play the loser of the later game on Tuesday night between the Boston Celtics and Washington Wizards. Game time for that winner-take-all contest is set for Thursday, May 20, at 8 p.m. ET on TNT.
If Indiana wins both play-in games, the team will be the No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference Playoffs. As their prize, they would face the top-seeded Philadelphia 76ers in the first round.
Betting odds for the Pacers
When it comes to betting on the Pacers, Indiana sportsbooks think the team will stave off elimination Tuesday. As of Monday afternoon, the Pacers are 3-point favorites over Charlotte.
Those same oddsmakers aren’t as high on the Pacers finishing the job, though.
DraftKings IN Sportsbook has a “To Reach Playoffs” prop market on its site, and it lists Indiana as +320 to make the playoffs and -455 to miss out on the postseason.
Bettors should expect the Pacers to be an underdog to either Boston or Washington if they make it to Thursday.
Indiana will also likely be an even heavier dog to Philadelphia if it gets that far. However, Pacers faithful would have a shot to use some NBA promos on that series if that ends up being the case.
IN sportsbooks get out and running with playoff promos
Even if the Pacers miss the playoffs, there’s plenty of betting action to be had on DraftKings.
DraftKings wants users to Hammer the Over
DraftKings is starting its deals with the traditional 16-team playoffs, which begin on Saturday, May 22.
The sportsbook is bringing back its “Hammer the Over” promotion for a game yet to be determined on either May 22 or 23. In that special offer, the points total for the game drops a point for every 1,500 bettors that wager on the over.
