You won’t find the Indiana Pacers in the NBA Draft Lottery during a typical year.
The team is one of the more consistent franchises that you’ll find in basketball. So much so, that Indiana hasn’t had a top-10 pick in the draft since 1989.
The 2022 Draft Lottery will finally break that streak. The Pacers finished the regular season with one of the worst records in the league, which means that the team is guaranteed to have one of the top picks.
This year’s lottery will be taking place on May 17 at 8 p.m. You can bet on all of the action thanks to legal Indiana sports betting.
Pacers odds for each pick
The Draft Lottery is pretty unfamiliar territory for Pacers fans.
Indiana tries to avoid the full-blown rebuild at all costs. The Pacers never tank, so the team usually ends up picking somewhere in the middle of the draft.
However, when the team does end up with a high pick, its selections usually end up being memorable. The Pacers drafted Chris Duarte, Myles Turner and Paul George with their last three lottery picks.
Here’s a quick look at the chance that Indiana has to snag each pick:
- 1st Pick: 10.5%
- 2nd Pick: 10.5%
- 3rd Pick: 10.6%
- 4th Pick: 10.5%
- 5th Pick: 2.2%
- 6th Pick: 19.6%
- 7th Pick: 26.7%
- 8th Pick: 8.7%
- 9th Pick: 0.6%
An over 40% shot at the number one overall pick is nothing to sneeze at. The Pacers have never had the first pick in the NBA Draft, so jumping up that high in the lottery would be historic.
2022 NBA Draft Lottery odds
Betting on the NBA is incredibly popular right now thanks to all of the postseason action. NBA Draft wagers add another wrinkle for hoops fans to get excited about.
The draft itself isn’t until June 23, but the lottery provides some betting options in the meantime. That’s true regardless of whether or not you’re betting on the Pacers.
You can use any online sportsbook in Indiana to bet on the NBA Draft Lottery. However, the FanDuel app has the largest number of betting options available right now.
For example, you can wager on which team will end up with the first overall pick. The Pacers are one of the favorites for that market.
- Detriot Pistons: +550
- Houston Rockets: +550
- Orlando Magic: +550
- Oklahoma City Thunder: +600
- Indiana Pacers: +750
Of course, it all comes down to the luck of the draw. The NBA has had teams make plenty of surprising leaps in the past, so the Pacers jumping into one of the top spots wouldn’t be unheard of.
