TwinSpires Sportsbook Launches In Indiana Just In Time For Kentucky Derby

Posted on April 21, 2021

TwinSpires Sportsbook is finally live in Indiana.

The Churchill Downs product is now one of Indiana’s 10 online betting apps.

The brand may be new for Indiana gamblers, but this isn’t the state’s first go-around with Churchill.

TwinSpires is a rebranding of BetAmerica Sportsbook, which launched in Indiana back in December 2019.

Churchill sunsets BetAmerica brand

BetAmerica hasn’t exactly been a shining star in the sports betting world.

The company was routinely the worst-performing sportsbook in Indiana.

March 2021 was BetAmerica’s final full month of operation in the Hoosier State.

During that time, the sportsbook only took in $76,000 worth of wagers. That was the lowest mark of any sportsbook in the state by a wide margin.

The low numbers forced Churchill to make a change.

TwinSpires has been the company’s horse racing brand for years, so Churchill ultimately decided to move everything under one name.

Since then, it’s taken a handful of months to get the rebranding process up and running.

Things got underway back in January, and now TwinSpires Sportsbook is live in four different states around the country.

The April 20 launch finally added Indiana and Pennsylvania to that list of states.

TwinSpires arrives for Kentucky Derby betting

Churchill Downs was in a bit of a time crunch to get this rebranding project done soon.

TwinSpires arrived in Indiana just in time for the Kentucky Derby.

Both the sportsbook and the racebook app are available for Hoosiers to use now.

The Derby is taking place on May 1 this year, and Churchill has a significant investment in making the most out of the big race.

The company hosts the Derby in Louisville every year and is generally a leader in the racing industry.

Hoosiers can now use the TwinSpires app to bet on the Kentucky Derby, which is exactly what Churchill was hoping for.

That will help the company soak up as much racing action as it can next week.

Churchill Downs integrates betting

TwinSpires has been taking horse racing bets for over a decade now.

The company had two different brands gunning for the same horse racing market after it launched BetAmerica.

Moving everything under the TwinSpires brand helps solve that problem.

A single integrated betting experience makes everything easier for customers, regardless of what they’re wagering on.

While the horse race wagering app and sports betting app are two different products, they are now under one brand.

Churchill’s Online Gaming President Ian Williams is hoping that the change will create a successful all-in-one product for gamblers.

“Pursuing a single brand strategy allows us to maintain focus on integrating our horse racing wagering platform alongside our sports betting and iGaming business, which will provide our players with the ultimate online and mobile betting experience.”

TwinSpires does just fine with horse race betting, so it’s really hoping to improve its sports wagering business with this move.

Will the BetAmerica rebranding really fix the company’s sports betting woes? That remains to be seen.

At the very least, Churchill is getting a much-needed fresh start with gamblers around the country.
