Indiana Sportsbooks Favor Colts Over Seahawks In Week 1 Matchup

Posted on May 14, 2021

The Indianapolis Colts will start the 2021-22 regular season at home against the Seattle Seahawks. The Colts Week 1 odds give Indianapolis a strong chance to start out the season with a victory as the spread is a near-consensus among legal Indiana sportsbooks.

Betting lines on the spread range from two to 2.5 points, depending on the operator. Action on the total is almost as uniform as the Colts will get one of their inter-conference games out of the way right off the bat.

Colts Week 1 odds favor Indianapolis

Regardless of which app you use to bet on the Colts on Sunday, Sept. 12, the action favors Indy.

Below are the current odds for the game.

A standard rule of thumb in football is that home-field advantage counts for three or 3.5 points, with everything else being equal. Thus, the oddsmakers here expect Seattle to give Indianapolis all it can handle on this particular date.

It isn’t difficult to see why the Colts are the favorite here despite the Seahawks’ quality and Indianapolis’ change at quarterback. Seattle ranked 31st in passing yards allowed last season. The Seahawks did bring in cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon and edge rusher Kerry Hyder as free agents to try to augment that.

They also drafted corner Tre Brown out of Oklahoma.

If Carson Wentz gets comfortable in his Colts debut faster than those players adjust to their new team, then Indianapolis could cover in this one. Betting on the total in this game might require bettors to gather some more information, though.

Lines on the total have about the same amount of disparity, ranging from 52 to 52.5 points. While -110 odds on either side of the market is about the best you’ll find on either number, BetRivers and DraftKings do currently have -107 odds on the Over of 52.5.

If those markets seem too close to wager on, you could take a look at futures for the team.

Colts will battle Titans for AFC South supremacy

Just like last season, the Colts will battle the Titans for AFC South supremacy.

Right now, the team’s odds to win the AFC South sit at +100, with odds of winning the Super Bowl at +2500.

The Colts will be relying on both new and old talent to get the job done this season.

On offense, the team added offensive tackles Eric Fisher and Sam Tevi. They will give Marlon Mack another shot in the backfield, and at receiver, the Colts brought back T.Y. Hilton. For the most part, all eyes will be on Carson Wentz and his ability to lead the team.

The Colts will have two chances to put their skills to the test against the Titans this season. The two teams face off for the first time on Sept. 26, and then once again on Oct. 31.

The Colts haven’t snagged an AFC South title since 2014, but battled the Titans for it last year throughout the entire season. That makes both games against Tennessee that much more important.

Fans will have to wait until Sept. 12 to see if oddsmakers are right about the team’s abilities both in Week 1 and the season as a whole.
