Caesars Southern Indiana Hotel & Casino is celebrating a milestone this month. The 25th anniversary of the casino will be observed throughout November, with special contests and events planned for players.
The casino in Elizabeth opened its doors Nov. 20, 1998. According to Caesars, the casino has paid in excess of $2.7 billion in jackpots and had more than 50 million visitors. The state of Indiana received more than $2 billion in taxes from the operation.
Caesars will host a special celebration with cake and honored guests on the 20th, while visitors can enter a prize contest that could earn them reward credits. The drawing is at the end of the month.
Caesars Southern began as a riverboat casino
Indiana boasts more than a dozen casinos. Indiana online casinos are still illegal, but that could change during the next General Assembly session, beginning on Jan. 9.
Located on the Indiana-Kentucky border, across the river from Louisville, Caesars Southern Indiana is one of the oldest casinos in Indiana. Although owned by Caesars-controlled Vici Properties, Caesars Southern Indiana is operated in partnership with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.
Originally, the location east of Elizabeth was a riverboat due to laws prohibiting gambling on land in Indiana. But since 2018 gaming laws were amended, Caesars Southern has been a land-based casino that draws visitors from Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio. The city of Louisville lies across the Ohio River, and Cincinnati is only 120 miles from the casino resort.
Caesars Southern General Manager Brad Seigel invites players to visit the casino in November to join the celebration and possibly win game credits.
“We’re looking forward to celebrating with our guests all month long concluding with a $2.5 million giveaway in reward credits at the end of November.”
