Will Indiana have a new online sportsbook before the Super Bowl?
The Super Bowl is the biggest betting event of the year. The big game marks the end of the football calendar and it attracts tons of gambling interest annually.
With so many eyes on Super Bowl Sunday, sportsbooks are eager to get in on the action.
Indiana already has 10 online sportsbooks, but that could be changing as early as this week. Specifically, Barstool Sportsbook could be on its way to the Hoosier State.
Barstool Sportsbook Michigan
Until recently, Barstool Sportsbook was only operating in Pennsylvania. That finally changed on Jan. 22, when the company opened for business in Michigan.
That was the state’s very first day of online sports betting, so Barstool had to make Michigan a priority in order to meet the launch deadline. That begs the question, will the company be able to make the Super Bowl deadline in Indiana?
Launching in time for the Super Bowl would be a great way to make a splash in Indiana’s market.
After all, taking bets on the biggest sporting event of the year is a great way to jump-start business.
We already know that Barstool Sportsbook is coming to Indiana sometime in 2021.
Now that the company is taking bets in a neighboring state, it could be more likely to hop down to Indiana sooner rather than later. That would certainly make for a Super Bowl to remember.
Retail Barstool Sportsbook Indiana locations open for business
Retail sportsbooks are the other factor suggesting that Barstool’s online launch might be coming to Indiana soon.
Penn National Gaming owns a large chunk of Barstool, and provides the company with market access to new states via its casinos.
In Indiana, Penn owns both Ameristar East Chicago and Hollywood Casino Lawrenceburg. The company opened retail Barstool Sportsbooks at both locations just last month.
So even though you have to place your Barstool bets in-person for now, Hoosiers at least have some access to the brand.
Investing in retail sportsbooks shows that Indiana is on Barstool’s mind. Whether or not the online version of the sportsbook launches in time for the Super Bowl is yet to be seen, but at the very least, Indiana gamblers will still get their hands on the app sometime this year.
New Indiana sportsbooks in 2021
Barstool is on its way to Indiana, but it isn’t the only sportsbook coming to the state this year.
Just like Barstool, WynnBET also launched in Michigan last week. Wynn sportsbook is coming to Indiana by means of a deal with Rising Star Casino.
SBK Sportsbook is also on its way. The London-based operator is already up and running in Colorado, and will be joining WynnBET as one of Rising Star’s newest partners.
Last but not least is 888Sport, which will be working with Harrah’s Hoosier Park. The company also plans on being a major force in Indiana’s future online casino market.
There’s no way to know which of these sportsbooks, if any, will launch in time for the Super Bowl.
However, each of these companies are in line to open for business in the state. When it’s all said and done, Hoosiers will have more sports betting options than ever before.
